    Susan Shiff, Ph.D.

    Shiff, Ph.D.

    Susan Shiff, Ph.D., is the president of Ontada where she leads the business in its vision of transforming the fight against cancer.

    Susan is a well-respected leader in oncology insights and has more than 30 years of healthcare experience. Prior to joining Ontada in 2021, she served as senior vice president of Merck & Co, Inc., where she was head of their Center for Observational and Real-World Evidence. She also defined the investment strategy for the $500MM Merck Global Health Innovation Fund, including new ventures with digital health companies. She started her career with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and has worked for life science leaders including Johnson & Johnson, Roche and Pfizer.

    Susan holds an MBA from Cornell University and a Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles. 

    Sarah Alwardt, Ph.D.

    Sarah Alwardt is the vice president of operations for Ontada. In this role, she is responsible for the day-to-day operations and delivery of the Market Insights, Advisory Solutions, and Real-World Research portfolios.

    Prior to joining McKesson, Sarah enjoyed ten years at Humana where she held leadership roles in research, program and process development. During her tenure, she reorganized and revitalized the research business, and facilitated strategic planning and the reengineering of the capital budgeting process for Humana Pharmacy Solutions. Sarah also held roles at Givaudan, Brown-Forman and the University of Louisville, where she served two years as adjunct professor of chemical engineering.

    Sarah is an accomplished author and speaker, having published and presented several works in rapid analytics and the importance of real-world data in oncology drug development. She holds multiple patents for her work on the removal of pesticides from citrus oils. In her current role, Sarah speaks frequently on the challenges and opportunities of real-world evidence and research collaboration between Fortune 100 companies.

    Sarah holds a bachelor’s, master’s and a doctoral degree in Chemical Engineering and a certificate in Environmental Engineering, all from the University of Louisville’s Speed School of Engineering.

    Steve Beier

    Vice President & General Manager, Oncology Technology Solutions

    Steve Beier is the vice president and general manager, Oncology Technology Solutions, which is focused on imagining, delivering, and evolving the emerging technologies fueling oncology care. He leads teams responsible for the end-to-end design, development, implementation, and support of Ontada’s technology products and McKesson’s Provider Oncology portfolio.

    Steve joined McKesson in 2018 to transform the Provider Technology Solutions organization. In this time, he has led a complete organizational transformation, including stabilizing the performance, improving the reliability of its premier EHR, iKnowMedSM Generation 2, and accelerating customer migration onto this platform. Under Steve’s leadership, the organization is focused on improving oncology patient outcomes through advances in Precision Medicine. This innovation is driving real-world advances in clinical trials, which enable biopharma to develop more effective oncology treatments faster than ever before.

    Before joining McKesson, Steve served as vice president of software development at Explorys, an IBM Watson Health company. He has over 20 years of professional experience in leadership roles at IBM, harnessing the analytical and computing power of the company to identify innovative technology opportunities and bring them to market.

    Steve holds a Master of Science in Technology Commercialization from the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Science in Cognitive Science from the University of California, San Diego. He studied Management Science and Engineering at Stanford University and also holds several patents in the areas of security for electronic product code (EPC) information services and supply chain management using mobile devices. Steve is passionate about building new businesses through transformation, innovation, and high-quality product delivery.

    Claude Bergeron

    Vice President, Provider Education & Engagement

    Claude Bergeron is the vice president of provider education and engagement for Ontada. In this role, he leads the strategy and operations for the delivery of pharmaceutical-sponsored educational programs to affiliated providers.

    Prior to joining McKesson, Claude was a marketing leader for Allergan, including for the Lap-Band®, where he worked with surgeons to develop and publish best practices, and for BOTOX® in Migraine, where he drove market preparation activities. Prior to his time at Allergan, he held a number of roles in sales and marketing at Eli Lilly.

    Claude holds a Bachelor of Science from Université Laval and a Masters from HEC Montreal.

    Giancarlo Brutocao

    Giancarlo Brutocao is the vice president of marketing for Ontada. In this role, he is responsible for deeply understanding Ontada customers’ needs, translating Ontada's capabilities into market-facing value propositions and generating awareness and differentiation of Ontada's solutions.

    With more than 10 years at McKesson with progressive roles across the marketing organization, Giancarlo most recently served as vice president of corporate strategy and business development. In this role, he was responsible for day-to-day operations of the corporate strategy function, including oversight of the “flex team” of strategists who were deployed based on company priorities, budget, department priority setting, and communications. He brings to Ontada diverse experience in corporate strategy, corporate marketing and specialty marketing.

    Giancarlo holds a bachelor’s degree and an M.B.A., both from the University of California, Los Angeles.

    Latoya Fields

    Vice President, Human Resources

    Latoya Fields is the vice president of human resources for Ontada. In this role, she serves as the top human resources (HR) advisor with accountability for talent strategy, organization design, change management and culture.

    An accomplished human resources strategist with 20+ years of experience as a leader, consultant, and trusted advisor in the healthcare, fintech, and consumer products industries, Latoya has deep expertise in developing HR strategies and implementing solutions through thought leadership and business partnership. Prior to McKesson, Latoya held senior HR business partner roles at Fiserv, First Data and The Coca-Cola Company.

    Latoya holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resources from Georgia State University and an M.B.A. from Kennesaw State University. With a passion for inclusion and diversity, she serves as a National Board Member of ASPIRE, McKesson’s African American employee resource group, and as a mentor and coach to many colleagues across the company.

    C. Lyn Fitzgerald

    Lyn Fitzgerald is the vice president of sales for Ontada. She is responsible for building partnerships with life sciences companies to help advance innovation, improve outcomes and deliver quality oncology patient care. She oversees sales of Ontada’s full line of data research and commercial solutions, including Market Insights, Market Education, Advisory Solutions, and Real World Research.

    Prior to joining McKesson, Lyn spent more than 13 years at the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), where she most recently served as senior vice president, U.S. & Global Development. During her tenure, Lyn drove the development and successful execution of an innovative business and significantly expanded the reach and utilization of NCCN content across the entire oncology ecosystem.

    Lyn holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Jurisprudence in Communications, both from Temple University. She is a frequent national speaker on the role of guidelines in cancer care, a published author of several articles on health and healthcare policy, as well as a contributing author of multiple white papers and task force reports on quality, value, access, data and evidence-based care in oncology.

    Chris Frey

    Chris Frey is the assistant general counsel, where she leads the legal team supporting Ontada’s customers, strategies and solutions.

    Previously, Chris was assistant general counsel for McKesson’s Prescription Technology Solutions. She also has experience in private practice at a large law firm focused on technology solutions, mergers & acquisitions and public-private partnerships.

    Chris holds a J.D. from the University of Michigan, where she graduated cum laude.

    Nate Gosse, Ph.D.

    Vice President, Product Strategy

    Nate Gosse is the vice president of product strategy for Ontada. He leads portfolio and partner strategy with the goal of driving growth and customer success for specialty provider technology as well as oncology insights and expert services.

    Nate joined McKesson in 2011 and most recently served as vice president of product strategy for the Specialty Provider Solutions business.

    Previously, Nate was a consultant for McKinsey and a graduate researcher for the University of California, San Francisco.

    Nate holds a bachelor’s degree from Washington University in St. Louis and a Ph.D. in Developmental Biology from the University of California, San Francisco.

    John Hopkins

    Vice President, Compliance & Ethics

    John Hopkins is the vice president of compliance & ethics for Ontada where he oversees operational compliance, ethics and privacy programs while helping balance the strategic business needs with regulatory and legal requirements.

    John joined McKesson in 2013 and has held numerous roles in policy governance, data privacy and compliance leadership in other McKesson technology service lines including Macro Helix and CoverMyMeds.

    Prior to McKesson, John worked for WebMD.com for more than 16 years where he helped define, build and oversee WebMD’s compliance & ethics programs for technology services and websites serving consumers, physicians and health plans. He started his life-long career in healthcare as a respiratory therapist in the U.S. Army. His last clinical role as a civilian was at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland.

    John holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications from Kennesaw State University. 

    Matt Johnson

    Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer

    Matt Johnson is the senior vice president and chief financial officer for Ontada. In this role, he leads the finance team for the growing business and his responsibilities include financial reporting and controls, financial planning and analysis, and managing investments in product growth, including mergers & acquisitions (M&A), identifying risk and managing the working capital investment.

    Matt has been at McKesson for 12 years and has served in roles of increasing responsibility throughout his tenure. Most recently, Matt was the senior vice president of corporate financial planning and analysis and M&A finance. Matt has also held finance director roles in both McKesson Europe and McKesson’s Pharmaceutical and Specialty Solutions businesses.

    Matt holds a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry from the University of Tennessee and an M.B.A. from Vanderbilt’s Owen School of Management.

    Derek Rago

    Senior Vice President, Strategic Initiatives

    Derek Rago is the senior vice president of strategic initiatives for Ontada where he leads the business in its vision of transforming the fight against cancer by creating actionable insights and intelligence throughout the spectrum of care.

    Derek joined McKesson in 2004 and has held a number of roles throughout his tenure. Most recently, he led McKesson’s Data, Evidence and Insights business, one of the core assets used to power Ontada. He also led the McKesson copay savings and patient adherence business, which is now part of RxCrossroads, a McKesson company.

    Prior to McKesson, Derek worked at what is now Symphony Health (a PRA Health Sciences company), where he played a key role in the creation and development of prescriber-level products that supported the pharmaceutical salesforce’s targeting and compensation efforts.

    Derek holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Alberta and an MBA from Arizona State University.
