IRVING, TEXAS, Jan. 25, 2022—Ontada®, a McKesson business focused on oncology provider technology solutions, targeted channels for biopharmaceutical and provider engagement, and a research arm focused on clinical data and evidence solutions, announced today the appointment of Viraj Narayanan as Chief Commercial Officer. The new position will be responsible for developing an aligned strategy to support the success of biopharmaceutical and provider partners and drive integrated, sustainable and profitable growth for Ontada.
In his role, Narayanan will oversee commercial operations from go-to-market strategy through commercial execution. He will also be responsible for developing and executing a unified strategy for Ontada’s business to support community-based oncologists with technologies designed to enhance care delivery, while at the same time providing our biopharmaceutical partners with evidence and solutions that can be used for both internal and external decision making.
“We are excited that Viraj will be joining Ontada,” said Susan Shiff, president, Ontada. “His extensive experience working at the intersection of oncology real-world data, technology and life sciences will help lead our continued growth with both biopharmaceutical companies and oncology providers, and provide value to patients, providers, regulators, and payers.”
Most recently, Narayanan served as the General Manager and Senior Vice President of the life sciences business at COTA, an oncology real-world data and analytics company. Narayanan led the scaling of COTA’s life sciences business, bridging the gap between stakeholder needs, including the go-to-market strategy for the business unit. Under Narayanan’s leadership, COTA’s real-world data supported sponsors’ regulatory submissions, including an FDA approval in 2021.
Prior to COTA, he held leadership positions at Heidrick & Struggles and Decision Strategies International, providing strategic consulting services to providers and biopharmaceutical companies. Narayanan’s previous experiences also include research at Centocor, a Johnson & Johnson company, and the University of Pennsylvania’s Natural Language Processing Department.
Narayanan earned a Bachelor of Science in Decision Science from Carnegie Mellon University and a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
“I believe Ontada’s technology platform, along with its connections to McKesson’s broader oncology ecosystem, has the opportunity to create unique benefits for patients, providers, and life sciences companies,” said Viraj Narayanan. “I’m honored to join the Ontada team to help catalyze value creation for all stakeholders and, most importantly, serve in its mission to improve the lives of cancer patients.”
